With this qualification you can perform a range of automotive tyre fitting tasks on various vehicles, the job role is referred to as an automotive Tyre Fitter (Light Vehicle Tyres).
The Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology qualification is made up of 14 units. In most states of Australia, the maximum duration of this traineeship is 12 months for full time employees and 24 months part time.
You will learn mostly on the job, in a practical real world way! In addition to this you will be supported with online activities such as reading, research, projects. You will also have assessment work for each unit of learning.
Yes, your trainer will work with you to make sure that you are ready to be assessed in each unit, or cluster of units. You will need to complete your theory assessment, your workplace supervisor will confirm that you have undertaken the tasks as part of your work and then your assessor will observe you at work to confirm your competence. Sometimes you will need to be observed over a number of visits.
The Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology is designed to prepare new employees for work in performing tyre fitting tasks on a variety of vehicles and recognizing existing workers with this knowledge and skills.

This course is funded through the Government of South Australia’s WorkReady initiative. Under this government scheme, you may be eligible as an Australian School Based Apprentice (ABSA) or a VET in Schools student under the Training Guarentee for subsidised training courses as QAT is a “WorkReady” Training Provider.
This course is subsidised by the South Australian Governments’ WorkReady initiative for eligible students. Only students who meet the eligibility criteria, in adition to the following condition, will qualify for subsidised training.
● Training Contract – A student signed into a training contract with an employer i.e. an ABSA.
